Vintage Aria A Style Mandolin w/case - $145 FREE S/H (US only)Very good condition! Low string action makes it ideal for learning because it is easy to fret. The G string is slightly buzzy on the higher frets, but the action could be raised at the bridge easily by turning the bridge wheel to fix this. I left it this way on purpose because I am assuming this will go to a beginner and the low string action is better for learning. We can change this for you if you ask. This mandolin comes with its original chipboard case. Real abalone inlay on the headstock, MOP dot inlays, all original parts, model AM180 made in Japan. I am assuming this instrument was made in the 1970's based on the varnish and color of the binding. There is no serial number, so I cannot verify the age. No cracks or repairs anywhere on the instrument. Virtually no fret wear or fingerboard wear. The top is slightly lower in the center where the bridge is. Highly recommended for the student! Don't miss out on this one!Additional Views: Click photo for larger front view Peghead Front Top Peghead Back Heel Back Fingerboard All Listen to MP3 of this instrument |

1950's Gretsch New Yorker Mandolin - $980 FREE S/H (US only)This A-Style Gretsch mandolin has really been played! It certainly has a great sound to it. Overall condition is very good. There is substantial fingerboard wear, but the frets are in very good condition. I imagine it has been refretted fairly recently. There is one repaired crack on the top of the instrument extending from the top f-hole to the side of the instrument. There are three more repaired cracks extending from the bottom of that same f-hole to the side. All appear to be stable and properly repaired and do not affect the instrument in any way. One pickguard screw is missing. There are very few scratches and dings overall. The peghead has a few scratches around the pegholes where strings have scratched it over time. Pegs move freely and hold tune well. The bridge is two-piece, non-adjustable. It has a penciled in restoration date of 1970 on the inside of the instrument, but I am unable to make out the name. Gretsch only made the New Yorker mandolins in the 1950's, so this mandolin is from that era. I do not know the exact date of manufacture, though.Additional Views: Click photo for larger front view Peghead Front Top Peghead Back Heel Back Side Listen to MP3 of this instrument |
