Bluegrass Shack Productions has one of the finest selections of fractional and full size violins and fiddles
over the internet. All of our instruments come set up and ready to play, and there are sound clips of each one for you
to listen to. We are currently in the process of photographing and recording our vintage fiddles, which number over 200 in
all, so if you don't see what you are looking for, feel free to contact us. Our vintage fiddles start at $300.
We do carry new cases (starting at $30 with purchase of instrument) and bows (starting at $15 with purchase of instrument) and can
get you a price quote upon request.
Bluegrass Shack Productions wants you to be satisfied with your purchase. If you are looking for a fiddle and you don't
know what size to order, or if you aren't sure if you should buy new, used, or vintage, take a look at this information
from the LearnBluegrass website.
One of the most frequent questions we get asked is, "What is the difference between a fiddle and a violin?"
There is no difference in the instrument at all. The setup of the instrument might be slightly different, such
as a different brand of string or a different bridge curvature. Usually classical players refer to the instrument
as a violin, and bluegrass, country and folk musicians will refer to it as a fiddle. Your purchase will work
for any style of music!
If you save your receipt, you will also be able to trade in your fiddle for a different size (for children starting
on a less than full size instrument) or for a more expensive one later on. We offer great trade-in values, many times
giving you the full amount you paid for your instrument when it is returned to us in good condition with the original receipt.
Instruments may be purchased using a credit card or your checking account through
PayPal. This is free for buyers. You may also call us with your credit card number. If you would like to purchase
with a check or money order, please contact us at BluegrassShack@aol.com for
instructions. Thank you and happy looking!

Vintage American Violin/Fiddle $325 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 710
This American-made Jackson Guldane fiddle would make the perfect gift for you or your loved one! It has nice flaming on the maple back, and the sunburst varnish
is really beautiful. It features vintage rosewood pegs and endpin; ebony fingerboard; vintage ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; plastic chinrest; new bridge; and Oxford
steel strings. Body is 13-7/8"; overall length is 23".
This instrument is in excellent condition. The varnish is orginal and is in pretty good condition. There are dents, dings and scratches all over. There are some rubbed spots on the edges and ribs where someone used a shoulder
rest that didn't have any padding left on the feet and it scratched the varnish. One side of the neck is slightly smaller than the fingerboard where at one time someone did some
shoddy work on the neck. There was also a previous repair to the end at the block. The only issues left now are cosmetic in nature. This instrument has no cracks! It has been completely
setup and is ready to play! I would classify this as a medium loud instrument. It has a moderate tone quality -- not
real bassy but also not too bright. It has a nice, thin neck which makes it easier for smaller hands and fingers. Why not buy American? You'll love this instrument!
No case & no bow.

4/4 Vintage J. Baader Violin/Fiddle $1230 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)

This particular instrument is a solid WOW! all the way around. Maker J. Baader, Mittenwald, Germany, ca. 1900. It features ebony fingerboard; new ebony tailpiece
with four fine tuners; new plastic chinrest; new ebony pegs; new brige; Oxford steel strings. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-5/8".
Excellent condition! Beautiful instrument with its original dark maroon to black sunburst varnish. There is lots of wear under the bridge that has been touched up. Numerous
nicks and dings overall, but in great condition nonetheless. There is a repaired 1/4" crack on the bass f-hole. The line extending from the top of the f-hole is a scratch

4/4 Vintage Nippon Violin/Fiddle $875 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 888
Very nice handmade, vintage, Nippon fiddle, ca. 1920. This is a very good find! Features include new ebony fingerboard; new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners;
new ebony pegs; ebony chinrest; new bridge; and Oxford steel strings. Body is 14"; overall length is 23-3/8".
The original varnish is in very good condition with very minimal chips and dings. There are a few noticeable scratches on the back, but still not too bad for an instrument
of this age. It has one small, inch-long repaired crack hidden by the chinrest. No other cracks, separations or repaired cracks. Tight grained spruce top. Two piece lightly flamed maple back. Maple ribs are plain. Has beautiful handcarved bass bar. Typical light brown Nippon color.
This is a loud and bright instrument, very clear tone, nice depth and ample bass. This is a really great price for the quality and tone. Great instrument for bluegrass or
Irish.

4/4 Vintage Lowendall Violin/Fiddle $930 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 977
This one is a powerhouse! Most likely the loudest fiddle we have here right now, and it really sounds good! Definately one of my personal favorites. This
is a Lowendall, ca. 1900, made in Germany. Beautiful one-piece back! It features new ebony pegs; new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; new ebony endpin; vintage ebony
chinrest; dyed rosewood fingerboard; new bridge; and new Oxford steel strings. Body is 13-1/8"; overall length is 23-3/8".
This instrument is in very good condition! The original varnish is light-brown/orange with multiple dings and scratches overall. Nice, original gloss
to the varnish. It has two repaired cracks on the top. They are visible on the picture of the top, but actually look worse on the picture than in real life.
On the treble side, the repaired crack runs from the f-hole all the way to the bottom edge of the instrument. On the bass
side, the repaired crack runs from the left of the tailpiece upwards about 3". Neither are bassbar or soundpost cracks and both have been glued and cleated. Instrument is
guaranteed solid. This is an amazing instrument that you definately won't regret purchasing! Very loud in volume, great bass response, wonderful tone quality all around.

new ebony pegs; rosewood fingerboard; plastic chinrest; new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; ebony endpin; new bridge; Oxford strings. Body is 14-3/16"; overall length is 23".
This instrument is in great condition. It has its original varnish which is also in very good condition and is golden in color. There are no cracks or repaired cracks anywhere
on this instrument, but there is a small chip on the side of the scroll. Some scratches and dings, mostly on the top. Some wear to the edges. It is medium in volume.
This is not a powerful instrument, but it does have a nice tone quality to it. This instrument would be good for someone who wants a nice sounding instrument, but doesn't want
something that is loud.

4/4 Vintage Violin/Fiddle $825 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 955
This wonderful sounding Nippon was made circa 1920. It has a new ebony fingerboard; new ebony tailpiece with parisian eye and four fine tuners; new ebony pegs;
new ebony endpin; new bridge; new plastic chinrest; and Super Sensitive steel strings. Body is 14"; overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in great condition. It has its original varnish, but the varnish on the top is pock-marked due to this instrument being subjected to high heat at
some point in its life. Totally crack-free! There is a small shim under the fingerboard, and there are several holes on each side of the peghead where vintage geared tuners
used to be. All cosmetic in nature. Loud in volume, with a warm tone quality. Not bright. This would be suitable for all types of music. This is yet another great sounding instrument!

4/4 Vintage Violin/Fiddle $825 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 549
This instrument was made in either Markneukirchen or Nuremburg, Germany, circa 1890. Someone stuck a "Saxony" label inside, but that is not correct.
This instrument features new ebony pegs; new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; plastic chinrest; dyed fingerboard; new bridge; Prim strings; and new ebony endpin.
Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in good condition. It has its original varnish which is in okay condition, with some areas worn and/or alligatored from heat. It has a very flat
top. There is a chip on the front of the scroll. It has three repaired cracks on the top: 1/2" and 3" repaired cracks to the left of the fingerboard, and a 1/2" repaired
wing crack. The center seam on the front appears to have been reglued at some point and is cleated from the inside. The button has a dent in is that is visible in the Heel
photo. Lots of wear to the edges, and one edge is worn to the purfling. Small chip on the top edge to the right of the fingerboard. Instrument is solid and ready to play!
The inlaid purfling on this one is especially nice. It is very close to the edge and has nice corners. I would classify this as medium loud in volume with a
good bass end. Looks are on the rough side, so don't purchase this if you like new looking instruments.

fine tuners; wooden chinrest; newer bridge; and new steel Oxford strings. Overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in very good condition. It has its original varnish, which is a deep reddish-orange in color. The peghead has a small repaired crack at the A peghole.
There is some chipping of the finish in a couple of places, but only slight wear overall. There is a small repair to the rib at the end near the endpin. This can be
seen in the pictures. Nicely done and cosmetic in nature. Medium loud in volume with a great sound overall! This is one of my personal favorites in this price range.
