Vintage Lion's Head Violin/Fiddle $475 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 861
Made in Germany, circa 1840-1870. What a great instrument for someone with shorter fingers! This full size bodied instrument has its original shorter (baroque-era) neck with lion's
head scroll. With the full size body, you still get a full size sound; and this one is exceptionally bassy! With the shorter neck, you get a shorter string
length which translates into shorter finger reaches. If you are needing a smaller scale instrument but don't want to sacrifice sound, this is really it! Ebony pegs;
ebony fingerboard; ebony endpin; ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; new bridge; old bakelite chinrest; steel strings.
Body is 14"; overall length is 22-7/8". String length is 12-1/2" from inside of nut to inside of bridge.
This instrument is in good structural condition. It has many repairs, including cracks and neck repairs. Not all were made by us, and some don't look professional, but
all appear to be solid and holding well. We do guarantee this instrument. Please take a close look at the pictures and ask any questions so that you know for sure what
you are getting. Cracks include a rather long top crack that has been repaired that runs right next to the fingerboard. It is a solid repair with inside cleats, but
the edges of the crack were not lined up so it is rather obvious. There is also a crack that is about 1" long on the bass side of the top right above the bridge to the f-hole.
There is a 1/4" repaired wing crack on the bass f-hole, and 2 more repaired cracks on the top at the edges. One is 5" and is the entire bass side of the top, and the other is a
1/4" repaired saddle crack. There are also several cracks in the rib next to the neck. These are visible in the pictures and all is solid and has been repaired. The neck has a
shim under the button to raise the neck angle. The back is one-piece and is crack-free. The scroll has been carved into a lion's head and even has its tongue. The tongue is
not original, but looks original. (Most of these old lion's head fiddles lose their tongues...) There are no cracks in the peghead, but there are a few old screw holes. This
particular instrument has a great bass sound. We get lots of requests for fiddles with the sound, but not too many sound like this. This is one I don't expect will last
long. Great sounding instrument for bluegrass and folk music! Medium loud in volume. Great for any level of player!

4/4 Vintage Violin/Fiddle $275 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 859
This very old German fiddle would make a great starter instrument for those who love vintage! Circa 1870, this one is in structurally great condition!
Too bad I can't say it looks pretty! Ebony fingerboard; ebony pegs; vintage dyed wood tailpiece with four fine tuners; vintage bakelite chinrest; new bridge;
ebony endpin; steel strings. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-1/8".
This instrument is in great structural condition. The only crack is a 1/4" repaired wing crack on the bottom of the bass f-hole. No other cracks or repaired cracks.
The neck angle was slightly low, but this has been corrected with a shim under the fingerboard. You can see this in the pictures of the Neck. This instrument has
been clear coated and it was not a good job. There are runs visible all over and the clear coat is cracking and flaking. I cleaned and french polished the entire
instrument to help control the flaking. It actually looks great compared to what it looked like before... Scratches and dings overall; wear to the edges. This
is all purely cosmetic in nature. Lightly flamed on the back. GREAT student instrument; highly recommended for the price! Loud to medium loud in volume with a good tone quality that would be suitable for all styles of
music! This one won't last long.

4/4 Vintage Violin/Fiddle $425 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)

Made in Dresden, Germany, circa 1900. You're going to love this one! Look at the beautiful flaming on the back of this one! Vintage carved ebony pegs; ebony fingerboard;
ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; plastic chinrest; vintage bridge; ebony endpin; steel strings. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-1/8".
This instrument is in very good condition. Upper rib on the bass side has a repaired crack -- probably there from when it was originally made (from bending the wood). You can see this

Vintage Stainer Violin/Fiddle $575 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 600
This very old fiddle was made in Germany, circa 1830. It is a Stainer copy and is stamped on the back near the button. It still has its orginal short neck (baroque). The body size is full, but the
actual string length is short due to the shorter neck stop. This type of fiddle is great for petite adults or adults with shorter fingers. You get the full size
sound with shorter fingerings. There aren't nearly as many older fiddles that still have their original shorter necks, but we just happen to have two of them (both are
listed right now). This one has a dyed wood fingerboard with slight wear; rosewood pegs; ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; ebony endpin; plastic chinrest; and steel
strings. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23". The string length from inside the nut to inside the bridge is 12-3/8".
This particular instrument belonged to one of our teachers who has very short fingers. It has been well taken care of and is really great sounding. It also has
a great bassy sound to it. It has a number of repairs, but is a very solid instrument that we guarantee. The original varnish is in good but worn condition. The top has
four very long cracks that has been repaired. One runs from the top of the fiddle on the treble side all the way to the f-hole. Another runs from the top of the fiddle on the
bass side and goes about 4". Two other run parallel to each other and are about 1/8" apart. They extend from the bottom of the treble f-hole to the bottom of the fiddle.
All are visible in the pictures. There is a repaired wing crack on the treble f-hole. No bass bar or soundpost cracks. There are no other cracks or repaired cracks. The
back and neck are tightly flamed maple. I would classify this fiddle as medium loud with a great bass end. I think it would be suitable for all styles of music. Very
sweet sounding. You will enjoy playing this one as it really sounds beautiful!

Used?/Vintage? Violin/Fiddle $575 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 862
I don't know much about this particular instrument, but I think it is an older fiddle that someone bought unfinished. I don't know how old it is,
but the varnish looks like it has some age to it. The fittings are newer. It has an ebony fingerboard; ebony pegs; ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; plastic
chinrest; ebony endpin; and steel strings. Body is 14"; overall length is 23-1/8".
This instrument is in excellent condition. It has a small, repaired 1/2" saddle crack and that is it. The back is one-piece and is lightly flamed. The original
varnish is handmade and is slightly dirty. There is very slight alligatoring to the varnish that is only visible when you look at it closely in the right light. This is
visible in a number of the pictures. It has
a wonderful, bassy sound. I was truly shocked when I played it! This instrument is loud in volume and has a great sound! I believe it would be suitable for any
type of music.

This instrument is in excellent condition. It has its original varnish which is in excellent condition, with practically no dings, and no cracks or repairs of any kind. I do see a couple of
light scratches on the back of the peghead. The finger positions have been marked with tape. These are easily removed if you don't need them. Spruce top runs from very fine
grain to fine grain. Tightly flamed maple back that is out of this world gorgeous! Medium to loud in volume

Very affordable and nice student or stepup instrument here! Stainer copy made in Germany, circa 1890. Mismatched, vintage ebony pegs; ebony fingerboard;
ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; plastic chinrest; new ebony endpin; steel strings. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in very good condition. The only cracks I can see anywhere on this instrument are two 1/8" to 1/16" saddle cracks that have been repaired, and
a 1" repaired crack in the top on the upper right side of the body. There
are scratches that extend from each f-hole down towards the bridge, but if these were ever cracks, they have been repaired. I can't tell if they are scratches or
repaired cracks. Scratches and dings overall consistant with age. Some wear to the edges. Original varnish is in good condition. Beautiful flaming on the
back of this one! Very finely grained spruce top. Loud to medium loud in volume with a nice tone quality! This one would be good for all styles of music, but especially

ebony pegs; metal tailpiece with four fine tuners; ebony fingerboard; vintage ebony chinrest; vintage bridge;
steel strings; ebony endpin. Body is 14-1/8"; overall length is 23-1/4".

Really nice German instrument, probably Markeneukirchen, circa 1910. Dark brown varnish with light edges make this one stand out from the rest! Vintage

Reference No. 847
German-made, circa 1890. This instrument would be wonderful for the intermediate or beyond player! It has a very thin neck, but the width is still average. This makes those long
reaches much easier! Fantastic, hand carved bass bar, too. New ebony pegs; new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; bone nut; new bridge; new ebony chinrest; steel strings; new
ebony endpin. Body is 14"; overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in super condition! I don't see a single crack or repaired crack anywhere on this instrument except for a 1" repaired crack in the rib on the end. This is visible
in the pictures! Scratches and dings overall consistant with age. Hardly any wear to the edges. Original varnish is in very good condition. Nicely flamed on the back. The f-holes on
this instruments have been hand-carved (fluted) and are beautiful! Loud in volume with a deeper tone quality! This is one of my favorites. Great for all styles of music. If you

Very nice Maggini copy here, complete with the double purfling and extra turn in the scroll. Look at the beautiful flaming on the back of this
one. Ebony pegs, fingerboard, and tailpiece with four fine tuners; new bridge; steel strings; new plastic
chinrest. Made in Dresden, Germany, circa 1920. Overall length is 23-1/4".
This instrument is in good condition. The top has one tiny 1/4" wing crack that has been repaired. No other cracks that I see in the top, and none in the
back, ribs or peghead. There is a repaired crack in the heel and also a nice looking button repair. You can see these in the picture of the heel. Instrument is sound. This particular instrument is one of 100 from an estate
of a collector who liked to refinish instruments. (This one has its original varnish.) Many sound very good, and this one is one of them! It is loud in volume and suitable
for all styles of music.

4/4 Vintage German Violin/Fiddle $425 FREE Shipping/Insurance (US only)
Reference No. 641
This is a beautiful German student instrument in great condition! This one really has it all! It features
a new ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; new plastic chinrest; new ebony pegs; dyed hardwood fingerboard; new
Aubert bridge; ebony endpin; and Super Sensitive Red Label strings. Overall length is 23-1/4"
This instrument is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or repaired cracks that I can see anywhere on the instrument,
and the original varnish is in excellent condition with one caveat... It appears that the instrument must have gotten hot
at some point and both the top and bottom have been off at some point. There is touchup work on the ribs at both points
from excess glue. It is possible that the neck was also reglued, but I can't tell for sure. All is solid and stable now.
This would make a great student or step-up instrument! This is a bargain for the price! Suitable for all styles of music.
I would classify this as medium to loud in volume.
